ASUS has officially launched the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 “30th Anniversary Edition,” a special release that revives the company’s Matrix series of flagship graphics cards. The announcement marks 30 years of the Matrix lineup, and ASUS has equipped the card with premium cooling, advanced PCB design, and high-performance power delivery to meet the demands of enthusiasts.
The ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 features the company’s traditional red and black color scheme and introduces a new quad-fan cooling solution. The front of the card carries three axial-tech fans, while the fourth fan is mounted at the rear, creating a push-pull system designed to expel hot air more efficiently. According to ASUS, this arrangement delivers up to 20% more airflow and air pressure compared to standard triple-fan designs. The card also integrates Aura Sync lighting and an ARGB infinity mirror on the backplate, prominently showcasing the “MATRIX” branding.

The card incorporates ASUS’s latest BTF (Back to the Future) technology. In addition to the standard 8-pin connector, it features the GC-HPWR 2.0 connector, enabling cable-free installation on compatible ASUS BTF motherboards. This connector can deliver up to 800W of power, offering greater headroom for performance, with ASUS noting that this can translate into as much as a 10% performance uplift.

Internally, the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 makes use of a premium PCB layout built with a 3 Oz copper layer to improve thermal conductivity and minimize voltage drops. This allows for greater overclocking potential and system stability. The GPU also uses Liquid Metal TIM for heat transfer and a vapor chamber for enhanced contact efficiency. The heatsink has been designed with densely packed fins, offering a 10% increase in surface area compared to the ROG Astral series, further improving thermal performance.

Factory overclocking is another highlight of this model. The ROG Matrix RTX 5090 ships with a 323 MHz overclock out of the box, reaching maximum boost clock speeds of up to 2730 MHz when the OC BIOS is enabled. Physically, the graphics card is one of the largest ROG models to date, measuring 357.6 x 149.3 x 76 mm with a 3.8-slot form factor.
