IO Interactive, the developer behind the HITMAN series, and Amazon MGM Studios shared the first gameplay preview of 007 First Light during a PlayStation State of Play event. The game explores a re-imagined origin story of James Bond, presenting players with the chance to experience the early years of the iconic spy.
The game is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Pre-orders are available now and include an automatic upgrade to the 007 First Light – Deluxe Edition, which offers 24-hour early access along with additional in-game skins and outfits.

Patrick Gibson, known for Dexter: Original Sin and The OA, will portray James Bond. Classic characters such as M (Priyanga Burford), Q (Alastair Mackenzie), and Miss Moneypenny (Kiera Lester) will appear, alongside new characters including Bond’s mentor John Greenway (Lennie James) and Miss Roth (Noemie Nakai).

The gameplay preview highlighted missions in several locations, including an undercover chess tournament in Slovakia and a high-profile gala in Kensington, London. Players will need to adapt to these environments while completing objectives and learning the mechanics of espionage.
Central to the gameplay is the “Creative Approach” system. Players can choose stealth, direct action, or a combination of methods for completing missions. Key features include:
- Spycraft: Bond can eavesdrop, pickpocket, investigate environments, and gather critical information, providing multiple ways to approach objectives.
- Instinct: This mechanic allows Bond to manipulate enemy positions, avoid detection, and improve accuracy during combat.
- Gadgets: Q Branch equipment is integrated into gameplay for stealth, misdirection, and tactical solutions. Players unlock additional gadgets as missions progress.
- Combat: Encounters combine ranged and melee combat, environmental interactions, and a unique escalation system reflecting Bond’s tactical approach to threats.
The game also includes cinematic sequences, such as high-speed chases, shootouts, and aerial missions, emphasizing the action and tension associated with the Bond franchise.
